A Lonely Whale

In 1989, scientists discovered a whale which sang at a frequency of 52 Hz (most whales sing at a frequency of between 10 and 40 Hz) meaning its calls possibly couldn’t be heard by other whales. How can it happen? Here is the story.

A long time ago, there was a whale. The whale could sing beautifully than the other whale. Every single creation in the ocean could hear his singing and they loved it. A turtle is a big fan of the whale. He swam across the ocean just to meet the whale and hear his voice as near as possible. On the way to the whale, the turtle met a rayfish. The rayfish asked “where will you go, turtle?” The turtle replied, “I’m going to meet the whale who has beautiful voice”. The rayfish shocked hearing what turtle has said. “Are you crazy? Don’t you know that the whale is very arrogant? The last time I saw him, he cursed at me that my voice like a grandpa and he won’t talk to me.”

The turtle did not believe what rayfish said and he kept going to meet the whale. He followed the voice of the whale. He met some fish and coral reef, all of them keep saying that the whale is very arrogant. It’s better to stay away from the whale or he will break your heart with his words. The turtle didn’t care.

Finally, the turtle met the whale. “Hey, whale. I’m turtle. I’m a big fan of you. Please sing to me” said the turtle. “Who are you? What an ugly turtle you are! Why do I have to sing to you? My voice is too beautiful to be heard by you. Go away!” said the whale.

The turtle was so sad. He regret not to believe what rayfish and other fish said. He thought that what he did to see the turtle is useless. So, he pray to God to punish the whale. God received the turtle’s pray and suddenly the whale’s voice couldn’t be heard by other fish. He can speak, but no one can hear him. The whale became lonely. He has no one to talk to, no one can hear what he said. The whale now is the loneliest whale in the world.

Catatan Penulis: Kisah ini bukan kisah nyata. Kisah ini hanyalah karangan bebas pemilik blog beabaepsae. Narrative text boleh fiksi kok, tidak harus nyata. Hal yang nyata adalah keberadaan paus yang suaranya tidak bisa didengar hewan lain. Paus ini bernama 52-Hertz Blue Whale. Paus ini tidak sombong seperti ceritaku kok, tapi dia memang diciptakan dengan frekuensi suara begitu. Dia memang terkenal sebangai paus paling kesepian di dunia ya karena suaranya yang tidak bisa di dengar oleh hewan lain tadi. Menarik,ya?
